A Letter to Parents

Dear Junior-High Parents,

As you know, junior-high children must complete service hours during the school year. All students must work for their own community service hours; a student may not accept donated hours. Students may work at the following work areas:

  1. GAME BOOTHS:  Assist adult – each grade sponsors a game booth at the festival.
  2. FOOD ASSISTANT/RUNNER:  positions are basically general helpers: keeping the food booths stocked with supplies, taking supplies to the Parish Hall, cleaning tables, etc.
  3. TRASH BASH:  working to keep the festival grounds clean.
    • This position will earn DOUBLE HOURS for EVENING SHIFT ONLY.
      • Fri: 7:30pm-11:30pm work 4 hrs, receive 8hrs
      • Sat: 7:30pm-11:30pm work 4hrs, receive 8hrs
      • Sun: 4:00pm-9pm work 5 hrs, receive 10hrs
  4. BEVERAGE RUNNER: Requires some lifting. MUST be able to lift 40 lbs. Job is to help keep the booths stocked with ice and drinks.

Shift times for the students are the same as the adult times, except for the first shift on Friday. Because dismissal is at 1PM, if your child would like to work the first shift, he must report by 1PM; adults will begin their shift at 12:30 PM.

Volunteer Commitment: I agree to abide by all rules and procedures during the Italian Festival. Both my parents and I agree to keep my commitment to work my confirmed time schedule. I understand that I am working for community service hours. My hours will be reported to my school. If I do not keep my schedule or I do not follow the rules and I am asked to leave my work area, I will not receive any service hour credit. This information will be documented and reported to my school.
